Operations - Methodology Design 
 

STEER Engineering (P) Ltd. has a full-fledged Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing facility to manufacture fully-wiping Co-Rotating Twin Screw Compounding Elements. The inter-changeability of the element is ensured by designing the screw profile accurately for a particular Screw diameter, Center distance, Flight depth and Number of lobes, using advanced computer modeling facilities. Thereafter, the Conveying screws and Kneading blocks are manufactured using a generation process utilizing Computer-aided manufacturing methods.

Manufacture
 

The elements are CNC milled using the generation process on a 4-Axis CNC vertical machining center. The internal splines are CNC Wire-cut. The process is designed to ensure complete interchangeability between elements. Since the elements are manufactured by generation, the surface finish and accuracy of the surface is very high. STEER can manufacture segments from 15mm diameter to 220mm diameter and up to 330mm length.

 
Inspection
 

Inspection is carried out at every stage. The Items are traceable from the raw material stage. Company standards are well defined and maintained at every stage of manufacture. Final inspection is carried out individually prior to dispatch.

 
Packing
 

The elements are individually wrapped and packed in styrofoam or expanded polyethylene boxes and then placed in corrugated boxes to avoid damage during transportation.
